Telford Street Pastors
Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue.
It was pioneered in London in January 2003 by Rev Les Isaac, Director of the Ascension Trust, and has seen some remarkable results, including drops in crime in areas where teams have been working.
There are now more than 220 teams around the United Kingdom, including Telford Street Pastors which was first seen on the streets of Telford Town Centre on 1st July 2011.
Telford Street Pastors work in partnership with the Borough of Telford & Wrekin Council and West Mercia Police to help resolve problems of anti-social behaviour, drunkenness and crime in the night time economy in Telford.
Madeley Baptist Church was instrumental in the setting up of Telford Street Pastors and a number of Street Pastors are members of our church.
